Raised in Philadelphia, I joined the army right after high school. I served as a DUSTOFF flight medic in Vietnam, flying helicopter ambulance missions into active combat to evacuate wounded soldiers. After nine months, I received a life-threatening gunshot wound and spent nearly two years unable to speak. During my recovery, I pursued college along with deep reflection on lone bicycle treks. The extreme suffering I witnessed in war influenced me to dedicate my life to preventing suffering where possible. Dangers posed by nuclear weapons prompted me to become an environmental activist. As greenhouse gas emissions rose, I encouraged policymakers to take steps to avoid the extreme, devastating weather events resulting from a changing climate. This website continues my efforts to inform and educate.

About the Website
I post new articles once a week.
I research reliable sources about critical issues and forces shaping our world today. I provide information about: Climate Change, Veterans’ Affairs, Democracy, World Conflicts (war is one of the largest contributors to global warming emissions).
My time in Vietnam and subsequent healing and recovery is told in the book, An Introduction to War, written by my wife, Linda. My story is also summarized by articles written by others under Bio.
The Power Point presentation under Climate Change includes photos of my story. In addition, I provide a long list of reading and viewing Recommendations.
